I hope everyone has had a great Christmas! I am getting organized and ready for next semeseter. I wanted to tell you about a change I want to make to the World Music Class. The curriculum I was using was great fun, but just wasn't working for the multiple ages. It had a lot of music history, which the 2nd graders liked, but the Kinders had trouble sitting though. It unstructured dancing also got out of control very easily. I have decied I would like to try musical theatre with them this semeseter. I have researched it and have ordered a few books with fun excercises for drama and stage presence. I have also ordered a musical that looked like a lot of fun specifically for home school groups (it is good because it doesn't need 42 people like some of the other musicals I looked at). It is based on Tikki Tikki Tembo and gets into the culture and music of China. It has music, costumes, and scenary, so hopefully Suzy can get involved in that on the day she is with me. I think it will be great fun and something we can perform for an audience and take to the Montessori school. It is only 20 minutes long so totally do able. I hope this change is ok with everyone.
Cindy-- would you like Shaylene to be involved in this?
Rachelle- have you checked on Ella's piano?
Maybe we can play around with a new schedule for Tues. if Shaylene wants to do either the recorder class of this.
Talk to you later----reply in the comments section if you have a comment

Ranae I'm ok with the change, sounds like fun. I would love to help out with the props. Whats up with Shaylene - is she joining our group?
I hope all is well with everyone and you had a wonderful Christmas.
Suzy
Sorry Ranae, I hadn't been checking the blog. But, yes, the change sounds great. Nadia has learned so much, I'm just grateful for all that she is getting, and this too seems wonderful.
Suzy, Shaylene is starting AZVA on the 7th. I made a decision the week before Christmas and withdrew her from school and enrolled her in AZVA because they said she could start on the 7th.
I haven't gotten specifics yet of courses or any kid of schedule we will be doing, but she would love to join for either or both of the music activities. Whatever you all think is best for the group, she's pretty willing and the social part of it will be good for her (being my little social butterfly always "in the know")
Thanks gals, I really appreciate you all and all your heart that you put into this group. I've had fun so far this school year
Cindy,
I think it would be great to have Shaylene in both music classes. She is a great helper and I think it would be great for the older boys to have a good example. We could work the schedule on Tues. so she could hit both. Let me think about a way we could do that--we are still waiting to hear on piano. I am excited for you. I think you will love AZVA!
Ranae
Julie is fine trying Ella out in the boys' piano lesson. I told her I just want honest feedback to make sure it's working out, so for now it's a go.
