Singing their hearts out!
First of all---Rachelle, you are in our prayers! We miss you! Here are some pictures from Tues. that turned out cute. Here is what we did:
K History- We learned about Abe Lincoln and his role with the slaves and helping our country become great. We read "Abe Lincoln's Hat" and colored some pictures of him.
K Music- We learned new note "F" on the Glock and in notation. We sang a new song "10 in the
Bed" and learned the Glock part to that. We also reviewed other songs. We learned a cirlce dance called "Circle Round the Zero" and reviewed string instruments as well as read notes.
Drama- We are coming along with our play. We worked on the end of the play with position on stage and what will be happening with scene changes. The songs are coming along. We just need to work on projection and blending now. Suzy worked on the trees (they are going to be cool!) and had Mark finish his explorer map. The girls were the only ones that wanted to help with scenery, so they helped with the trees a little bit. We are adding props and costumes to our practice. Thanks to Shaylene, we have our wooden bowl! I found some great army ant hats that I am going to order. They are 5$, I hope that is ok with everyone. You will love them. We also found some snake hats we thought were cute. They are 6$. You will be able to use both of these even after the play. We need brown shirts for the monkeys and sloths. Rachelle- I forgot to send home your hats. I will next week.
After drama everyone got some playtime outside. They had a blast finding rolly pollys and riding bikes. It was cute because they found what they insisted was a black widow (it wasn't, I checked) and David was telling Ella is get away from it! Ella asked why David wasn't getting away from it if it was so dangerous. David replied that he would much more rather he got bit than Ella and Isaac pipped in that they would do ANYTHING to protect her. It was too cute!
2nd Grade History and Science- I started the unit on Africa today. This went well, we talked about all the parts of Africa and their climates. It was so fun to listen to them talk and throw out their ideas. In science, they spent so much time discussing things. They were MORTIFIED at the idea of putting their bean plants in a box where they might DIE. Isaac insisted that gravity didn't exist once you closed the lid and what would happen THEN. I really had to try hard to be serious! I think I convinced them that they could take out the plants if they saw any signs of yellow leaves. We will all have to make a box for our plants, because I didn't have enough.
Off the suject, but would you guys be interested on doing the Lemonade stand for Cancer on the May 29th date. I think it would be a great service project for our group--maybe we could get in front of Safeway or something. I guess we still don't know piano recital dates. Just a thought
See everyone tomorrow!!
