SCIENCE 2 - talked more about sound and how our outer ears capture the sound waves and make it easier for us to hear. did an experiment making cones to amplify sound into the ear. learned about the 3 parts of ears - outer, middle and inner ear. named all the parts and talked about what their functions are - there's a diagram in their folders that they might want to review at some point. they were silly but I think they got the lesson.
SCIENCE K - introduced the unit on measurement. talked about the difference between height and length. we compared objects of different lengths and different heights and I did some experiments with them to see if they could do this just by touching and not looking. they had fun with that. I got rulers out, too and introduced cm. even though it wasn't in the lesson plan. they liked that as well. I had them make pictures with themselves in the middle and something taller on one side and shorter on the other. take a look at these - very cute. it was a good day....
Cindy - I'll have to ask Ella about the sugar. hmmmmm........it wouldn't surprise me a bit - I just went into my sugar bowl this morning (I never use it, I normally use honey) and it was quite empty. I thought that was strange.....mystery solved.
See you tomorrow for the party - I'm bringing pumpkin scones. Rachelle
