THURSDAY NOV. 8
SCIENCE 2 - More fun with sound. Talked about vibrations and they create sound waves and produce sound. We did experiments vibrating rubber bands and balloons and made rice dance to the vibrations of REM on Suzy's speakers. We compared sound waves to the waves in water. I told them about native people putting their ear to the ground to listen (and feel) the vibrations of animals and other people. We talked a little bit about soundproofing (we get into that more next week) It was a good class and discussion - science is fun!
SCIENCE K - Learned about life in caves. They all thought it would be too scary, except for Ella, who thought it would be cool. They really liked hearing about the fish and reptiles that have no eyes or color. We learned about the moisture and darkness and how many nocturnal animals live in caves. Made a diorama of a cave, Quinn really liked making a big spider web in front of his. We took them in the bathroom with a flashlight to see how dark it would be and we sprayed them with water to make them damp. It was fun. We didn't complete the what doesn't belong page because Nadia didn't have it and I couldn't get my printer to work :) Good class.
See you next week! Rachelle
