MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

2 SCIENCE - more fun with gravity and friction. did an experiment with different sized parachutes so that they could see that a larger surface area attracts more friction and slows an object down. they all got this and had fun with it. we also made a square boat and a canoe shaped boat out of tin foil to see that the thinner one moves faster in the water because it has less surface area and less friction. we'll do the unit assessment on Wed. and they should do really well with this.

K SCIENCE - learned that plants need sunlight, water and air to make food. reviewed the 4 questions to ask to find out if something is living or not. they all seemed a little off their game today but they still had fun with the lesson. began an experiment with seeds to see which will grow best, or at all. don't forget to have them observe these throughout the week - when we're at my house next week I'll have them look at Ella's. we looked outside at different plants to see how they grow toward the sun. we had to cut it short because there were a couple wasps and Quinn was really upset :) but I think they saw enough to understand the concept - leaves catch the sunlight.

see you tomorrow.....r
