Art Jan. 18th

K-ART Unit 6: lessons 1 and 2 Introduced symbols and learned pictures are used to stand for something, the boy and girl symbols on bathroom doors, a heart is a symbol of love etc......

We looked at pictures of the Statue of Liberty, an American symbol of freedom. We looked at the symbol of the eagle on a quarter. We looked at Robert Rauschenbergs art work, Estes. His art work shows symbols you might see in a city. He used mixed-media of photographs and paint. The art project was modeled after his painting. Great productive day.

We you missed Quinn, get well soon.

2nd grade-Art Unit: 8 lessons 6 and 7 Vikings were master wood-carvers and ship builders. We looked the craftsmanship of ships and carts that were built by the Vikings. We also looked at picture stones the Vikings made to let other people know of their important achievements. The picture stones were put outside in public areas for all to view.

The art project was modeled after the pictures and carvings of animals that twist around and overlap. Save them for the art show.

Have a great week-end, Suzy
