FEB. 12 LA

Today we reviewed contractions, including the irregular "won't". They kept forgetting that "will not" doesn't follow the rule and is irregular, so it would be a good one to review. We reviewed how to use a dictionary and how some words have multiple meanings. They are really starting to notice words that can have more than one meaning - David pointed out when we were reading today that the word "lying" could refer to lying down or not telling the truth, go David! I introduced the concept of context - that we know what the definition or meaning of a word is based on how it is used in a sentence. We read "The three bears" and discussed the sequence of events in the story. Sequencing will be coming up frequently in the next few lessons.

It was a good day!

Suzy - we are going into Unit 9, if you could put the handouts for that unit in David's folder. Thanks again for the photos. I want to do something nice for your mom for sewing those costumes - any suggestions?

Ranae - I'd like to go see Peter and the Wolf - I think I'll just take Holden this time for a buddy day.
