LA - Read the poem "wind" and underlined the nouns and circled the adjectives in each line. had fun talking about the imagery in the poem.
- reviewed synonyms, antonyms and homophones. they did well giving examples of each, David's were particularly creative.
- read the poem "spill" from the weather poem book. talked about the imagery, that this is a good poem to memorize because it's short and clever. talked about e.e. cummings and how he wrote in all lowercase, just as this poem does.
- did presentations for the class. David did very well with the homework poem. Holden and Isaac need to work on not being silly while presenting and using good posture and eye contact. we should do this more often.
- read "sweet porridge" in the classics book. they did well with guessing the outcome and sequencing. introduced the concept of cause and effect. we'll need to point this out in stories, how one event leads to another, because they had some difficulty. Isaac needs to slow down in his reading so that he can answer the questions correctly. practiced reading with expression. summarized the story in their own words and they all were able to give the main points of the story.
