THURSDAY, FEB.14

SCIENCE 2 - Learned about the differences between clay soil, sandy soil and loam. Clay has smaller particles than sand and loam has more humus than both clay and sandy soil. The types of minerals and the amounts of water and humus affect the color and texture of soil. We did an experiment pouring water into sandy soil and loam and comparing the amount of water each holds. We planted seeds to be used in future lessons. They need to keep the plants moist. They had fun with the experiment even though David for some reason got the wrong results - I must not have given him enough loam in his cup!

SCIENCE K - We learned about land shapes - mountains, valleys, plains, hills and islands. Cindy will do her continents lesson on Wed. because they didn't need to have that lesson first. They had fun making the clay model of the land shapes. Next Thursday we'll add rivers, streams and waterfalls and I'll be sure to take pictures. It was a good lesson.Publish Post
