- K Art - Lesson 7: Meet Henry Ossawa Tanner He painted The Banjo Lesson; a k12 print. He showed caring scenes in his paintings: he was an African-American artist; he went to a good art school in Philadelphia at a time when it was difficult for African-Americans to go to school. He was born in Pennsylvania. We also looked at Mary Cassatt's paintings of mother and child a favorite artist of mine and who is also an American artist from Philadelphia. Then they made a drawing of a caring scene.

2nd grade Art - Unit 8 lesson 1 & 2: Roman art Unit 1 they learned about the differences between a fresco painting and a mosaic. Fresco's are painted directly on the plaster walls of buildings and homes. Mosaics are made by arranging tiny pieces of tile or glass. Unit 2 was review of the Pantheon, Colosseum in Rome and the Parthenon in Greece. They do have these three ruins down. I showed them the pictures and let them do the talking. They made a mosaic out of wood squares. I we will be finishing unit 8; it follows along with History. Roman sculpture is next then on to the Byzantines.
Happy pumpkin hunting, Suzy
