Art Thursday October 11

K ART - Unit: 3 lesson: 4 We did not do Art on Tuesday- so only one lesson was finished this week. We looked at the print of Edward VI as a child by Hans Holbein. We looked at the clothes and rattle the child was holding. We had a discussion about how realistic the painting is and picked out the elements that made it realistic. Ella said, ' ' It must have took a thousand years to make the painting." Then the kids made a drawing of me wearing a hat, holding a mug and sitting in a chair. They worked really hard and drew a good 45 min. I would like too do more full-body portraits soon because of how well they did. They all drew my glasses and hat. Ella and Nadia drew the chair I was sitting in. Yes!

2ND GRADE ART - Unit:3 lesson:3 We finished last weeks assessment which was a great review and they did remember some of the things about the artist Henri Rousseau. I love it when they tell me the artist is from France and then they look at me with questioning eyes. Good guess guys. Today's lesson we looked for over lapping in Rousseau's jungle prints and had a discussion about how to create depth in a painting or drawing. (different sizes, colors and the use of more than one horizon line.) We started a large drawing of a jungle scene they will finish next week. I will send home the assessments for lesson 3 and 4 next week. The boys are putting great effort in their projects and have settled into art.

NEXT WEEK PLEASE SEND - HOW ARTISTS SEE ANIMALS AND SAINT VALENTINE, WHICH IS A HISTORY BOOK.

Harriman family we have been thinking of you all day. You are in our prayers.
