HISTORY 2 - Diocletian split the Roman empire into East and West and appointed a co-emperor in the West. He assigned 2 assistant emperors called caesars and made himself a god. He persecuted Christians because they only believed in one god. When he retired, 7 men fought with their armies over who would be emperor next. Constantine won this battle after having a vision that he needed to become a Christian and fight under the Roman symbol for Christ. He made it legal to be Christian in the Roman Empire. We looked at a good website that has history games;
www.bbc.co.uk/schools/romans . You might want to check it out. They were a little silly off and on but it was a lot of info. and they settled down.

SCIENCE 2 - began the unit on magnets. they really liked this. we learned that the poles (ends) are the strongest part of the magnet and that there are 2 types - curved and bar magnets. did some experiments with magnets and talked about the earth being a magnet and why a compass works (this is in the next lesson, but they wanted to talk about it) . we read up to page 10 in the book but they can read on if they want to (they all did!) we'll be reading the rest of it next time anyway. we played with the different types of magnets for a long time. Ranae - in the K Science kit is a pack of bar magnets that are really strong - Isaac might want those for next time. I left the magnets in their backpacks in case they want them at home, but I'll need those and the books for the next couple lessons. good class!

Cindy - I'll put you on the wait-list for Seussical, if you want me too. there weren't enough tickets left.

BABY EVE'S LITTLE FOOT IS PRECIOUS! can't wait to hold her again! Rachelle
